Trust and safety

Trust you can read.

No app can promise how a job will go. We tell you exactly what was checked and when, keep reviews tied to real hires, hold your money until the work is done, and give everyone a private way to speak up.

Verification

Every badge, explained.

A badge shows what was checked and when. Anything not yet checked says Pending, and licenses that are self-reported say so.

  • PhoneChecked by GigHuntrWhen: At sign upA one-time code confirms a real, reachable number. Leads from verified phones are marked.
  • State licenseChecked by State license lookupWhen: Shown as Pending until checkedPros enter their license number and state. It reads Verified only after it is checked; until then it says so.
  • InsuranceChecked by GigHuntr reviewWhen: Until the policy expiresPros upload proof of insurance. We check the business name and the expiry date before the badge shows.
  • Background checkChecked by A consumer reporting agencyWhen: Dated, renews yearlyOptional, run with the pro's written consent. You see that it cleared and when, never the report.
  • ReviewsChecked by Verified hiresWhen: After a paid jobOnly a customer who booked and paid in the app can rate the pro. Ratings from other sites are labelled as reported there.
How it works

The rules, in plain words.

  • Reviews from real hires only

    • Only a customer who booked and paid in the app can rate that pro, once per job.
    • Ratings are adjusted for volume, so three perfect reviews cannot outrank three hundred at 4.8.
    • Ratings imported from other sites are labelled as reported there, and never mixed into ours.
    • Pros can reply once, in public. Reviews are removed only for breaking policy, never for a fee.
  • Payment protection

    • When you book, you pay GigHuntr and we hold it. The pro is paid after you confirm the work.
    • If you do not respond, payment releases 72 hours after the pro marks the job done.
    • Price changes need your approval in the app, with the reason shown.
    • Report a problem before release and a person reviews it. If the pro cancels, you get a full refund.
  • Your address is need to know

    • Pros quoting your request see your first name, neighborhood and request details.
    • Only the pro you hire gets your exact address, with directions, for that job only.
    • Assistant and connector tools follow the same rule: no address unless you hired that pro.
    • Competing pros never see each other's quote prices.
  • Reports go to people

    • Report and block on every profile, message and lead.
    • Reasons include scams, asking to pay outside the app, harassment, fake profiles or reviews, and no-shows.
    • Blocking a pro hides them from you and stops their quotes and messages. Blocking a customer stops their leads.
    • Reports are private. The person is not told who reported them.
  • Ranking you can't buy

    • Matches rank on verified ratings, reply speed, distance and track record.
    • Top Pro needs an adjusted rating of 4.75 or better across at least 40 hires. It is never sold.
    • Every request closes at 5 quotes, so pros compete on quality, not volume.
  • If something goes wrong

    • Report a pro or customer

From any profile, message or lead in the app.

    • A problem with a booking

Report it before payment releases. A person reviews it.
